Martin Luther King, Jr.

When King learned he would be the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964, the FBI decided to take its harassment of King one step further, sending him an insulting and threatening note anonymously. A draft was found in the FBI files years later. In it the FBI wrote, "You are a colossal fraud and an evil, vicious one at that." The letter went on to say, "The American public ... will know you for what you are -- an evil, abnormal beast," and "Satan could not do more."

The letter's threat was ominous, if not specific: "King you are done." Some have theorized the intent of the letter was to drive King to commit suicide in order to avoid personal embarrassment. "King, there is only one thing left for you to do," the letter concluded. "You know what it is ... You better take it before your filthy, abnormal fraudulent self is bared to the nation."

Happy New Year!

I can't believe that the year is half over and summer will be here any minute. We had a mellow New Years Eve with Gwen going to bed around 11pm while I stayed up and watched all of the happenings on Fremont St from the comfort of my living room. The following weekend I was fortunate to attend the San Diego Chargers v. Indianapolis Colts playoff game in San Diego. That was easily the greatest sporting event that I have ever attended. I also broke the curse that has been following me since 1988. 1988 was the last time that a pro-sports team that I was rooting for won a game. Sure, I've had petty victories here and there on tv, but the last time I saw my team win in person was 1988.

Last weekend was excellent as a few of us guys went to Primm, NV and watched the fights, played blackjack, and went to some outrageous burlesque show.

This week is exam week which means half days and lunch with adults. It also means free time. Last night I went to see Slumdog Millionaire which was outstanding. This weekend it's all horseshoes, beer, grilling, and a housewarming party.
